Solheim Cup Participants Headline 2024 #NWAChampionship Field
ROGERS, Ark. – In advance of this week’s Solheim Cup, #NWAChampionship tournament officials announced today a total of 20 Solheim Cup participants have committed to the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G, taking place Sept. 23-29 at Pinnacle Country Club. Additionally, the event week will feature a variety of onsite activities and events for the entire community to enjoy, including two yoga classes and a guided bike ride to the tournament. COMPETITION: Solheim Cup Participants to Headline Field at #NWAChampionship The 2024 #NWAChampionship field continues to take shape with a strong contingent of major champions, LPGA Tour winners and the game’s top-ranked players headlining the event, including 20 participants from this week’s Solheim Cup matches taking place outside of Washington D.C.
Representing Team USA in the Solheim Cup and committed to the 2024 Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G include Allisen Corpuz, Lauren Coughlin, Ally Ewing, Megan Khang, Jennifer Kupcho, Andrea Lee, Sarah Schmelzel, Lexi Thompson and Lilia Vu.
U.S. Solheim Cup team captain and former Razorback, Stacy Lewis will compete in her 18th #NWAChampionship this year. Lewis has taken home the #NWAChampionship trophy twice,
including once as a professional in 2014, and once as an amateur in its inaugural year in 2007. In addition, Assistant Captains Brittany Lincicome and Angela Stanford also are in the tournament field.
Representing Team Europe and scheduled to compete in the #NWAChampionship include Celine Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, Georgia Hall, Emily Pedersen, Madelene Sagstrom, Maja Stark, Albane Valenzuela and Mel Reid (Assistant Captain).The Solheim Cup, a biennial, transatlantic team match-play competition features 12 of the top players from the Ladies European Tour and 12 of the top players from the LPGA Tour competing head-to-head for one of the most highly coveted trophies in women’s professional golf. The 2024 edition of the competition will be held this week in Gainesville, Va.
NEW: Purina’s Purple Leash Project Offers Onsite Caricature Experience to Benefit Domestic Violence Initiative
In partnership with Purina and the Purple Leash Project, the #NWAChampionship invites fans to visit the Embassy Suites Driving Range during Official Play Days to learn more about the Purple Leash Project mission and take home a personalized caricature portrait featuring fans and their pets.
This new onsite activity for fans will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28, as well as 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29. Caricatures will be provided in exchange for a donation to the initiative. The activation will also feature a variety of giveaways for fans in attendance.
The Purple Leash Project was born out of Purina’s mission to bring and keep pets and people together by advocating for pet-friendly domestic violence shelters, giving survivors a route to leave abusive situations without leaving their pets behind. COMMUNITY: Onsite Yoga Classes Return for #NWAChampionship Week
Returning in 2024, #NWAChampionship Week will feature a variety of health and wellness events for adults and children alike, including two onsite yoga classes at Pinnacle Country Club.
Yoga for Kids presented by Dove will be hosted on Monday, Sept. 23 at 4:30 p.m. onsite at Pinnacle Country Club. In the free, kids-focused yoga class, Allisson Kublanov of Bee Well Yoga will highlight sports and exercise as building blocks to self-esteem and confidence-building in children. In addition, an LPGA Tour professional will join the class to share how yoga and other activities have benefited her golf game and helped to build confidence. Participating children will receive a gift upon entry courtesy of Unilever and Dove. Availability is limited. Complimentary pre-registration is required online.
Yoga on the Green presented by Birds Eye will return onsite at Pinnacle Country Club on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 8 a.m. The adult-focused yoga class is open to all skill levels and will be taught by Angela Hardecke of Cocoon Yoga Lab. At the conclusion of the class, healthy treats will be available for all participants to enjoy, courtesy of Birds Eye. Registration is now available online, which includes a $5 donation to the NWA Food Bank and a complimentary daily ticket to the #NWAChampionship.
Additionally, the 5k @ the LPGA benefiting Mercy and the Guided Bike Ride to the #NWAChampionship will also return during #NWAChampionship Week on Sept. 21 for fitness and outdoor enthusiasts. More information can be found online at NWAChampionship.com.
