Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G an Official GEO Certified Sustainable Event: The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship was once again named a GEO Certified Sustainable Golf Tournament in 2024 for the second consecutive year. In 2025, The #NWAChampionship strives to continue sustainability efforts and divert 90% of waste from this year’s event, which would exceed 2024’s diversion rate of 88%. New in 2025, Huhtamaki, the makers of Chinet® Brand, will be recognized as the official sponsor of the Waste Warriors – an onsite waste division team staffed by local organization Food Loops. Throughout the event, the Waste Warriors will support the event’s waste sorting efforts and educate spectators on their impact in meeting the waste division goal, which is a large aspect of the overall sustainability certification process. As part of the initiative, Huhtamaki will provide all compostable serve ware used throughout the event.

Attendees can experience the tournament’s sustainability efforts firsthand at the Sustainability Showcase presented by Dow, located on Hole #9. Open daily during #NWAChampionship Week, Sept. 15–21, the free activation will feature engaging signage highlighting tournament sustainability efforts and the surprising places at the event — and in daily life — where people experience the power of materials science first-hand. Fans will also enjoy interactive elements including a photo opportunity and giveaways.

The #NWA Championship was named a GEO Certified Sustainable Golf Tournament following the 2023 event and has continued certification yearly, making it only one of two GEO certified events on the LPGA Tour. Following the 2024 event, the tournament was also awarded the Green Driver Award for Sustainability from the LPGA Tour. To assist with the continuing certification efforts, attendees of the #NWAChampionship will be encouraged to participate in the event’s initiatives onsite by utilizing the three-bin waste sorting system and digital pairings guides and visiting the onsite sustainability showcase.
