LPGA Tour Star Maria Fassi Partnering with Procter & Gamble Ahead of the 2023 Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G
ROGERS, Ark., Sept. 28, 2023 – LPGA Tour star Maria Fassi and Procter & Gamble have agreed to a multi-year partnership, beginning this week at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G, taking place at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark.
Fassi, a fourth-year LPGA Tour professional who represented Mexico in women’s golf at the 2020 Summer Olympics, will represent P&G on tour as well as making special appearances on behalf of P&G, beginning this week at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G.
“Maria Fassi is an amazing talent not only on the golf course, but also more importantly off the course and has a bright future on the LPGA Tour. We are excited and proud to partner with her,” said Jeff Metzner, Vice President, Walmart Team Marketing & Communications at Procter & Gamble. “Maria sets a standard of excellence in everything she does on tour and in the community and we look forward to supporting her as she continues to thrive in both endeavors.”
“P&G has been a longtime LPGA Tour supporter with the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G, where I made my LPGA Tour debut while in college at the University of Arkansas,” said Fassi. “I’m honored to represent a company that believes so much in giving back to others, which is at the core of everything I do.”
Fassi has recorded seven top-10 finishes in her LPGA career, including two in 2023 – both sixth place finishes at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational and the Dana Open. She has accumulated just shy of $1 million in prize money in her career to-date.
The runner-up in the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur in 2019, Fassi played collegiate golf at the University of Arkansas from 2016-19, where she won 11 individual titles, including the 2019 SEC Championship and the 2019 NCAA Championship. She also became the first person to win the ANNIKA Award – recognizing the most outstanding NCAA DI women’s college golfer of the year – in back-to-back seasons.
In 2021, Fassi established The Maria Fassi Foundation and launched ‘Fassi’s Friends,’ helping to create inclusion for kids of all abilities and backgrounds to come together to learn and grow the game of golf. Fassi was inspired to start Fassi’s Friends because of her close relationship with her cousin, Josefina. They shared a love for the game but had a hard time finding coaches that would work with Josefina because of her disabilities. Fassi’s Friends aims to eliminate this hurdle for youth in the same situation, making all youth welcome to participate. Fassi’s Friends has impacted over 350 kids in Northwest Arkansas and is currently looking to grow to other locations to expand their reach with youth in other areas.
Procter & Gamble has partnered with the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G since the tournament’s first year in 2007, serving as presenting sponsor since 2011. In partnership with Walmart, P&G supports a variety of activities and events during tournament week at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G, including the 5k @ the LPGA, the Walmart and P&G Kids Confidence Club and more.
