1. Which group did you go with today?
I went with the group with Katherine Hull, Cristie Kerr and Lindsey Wright.
2. What was your favorite part of the day?
Whenever Cristie Kerr eagled a hole, I can’t remember which one, the crowd went nuts!
3. Did the players talk to you any?
Yes! At the beginning each hole we played. Sometimes they would come up and shake my hand before we teed off. To begin with they all came up and thanked me for volunteering and said hi to me. And at the end they did it again. They signed stuff for me, I have like six balls in my pocket that are signed, and a hat.
4. Are you volunteering anymore this week?
Yes, tomorrow.
5. Did you volunteer Friday? Which group?
Yes. Helen Alfredsson. She was really neat. Then I went with Christina Kim and Kristi McPherson.
6. How was it walking with Michelle Wie’s group? Was the crowd really big?
Oh yea. They were right in front of us today too. When we were putting you would hear the crowd going nuts. You would see crowds everyone following, probably just for her. It was fun.
7. If you had an opportunity to recruit other standard bearers what would you say is the best part?
Learning more. Because me, I play golf. So I learned a lot just by watching how they swing and their attitude. And autographs!
8. How old are you? What grade are you in?
14. 9th grade at Rogers High School.
9. So you play for the golf team? JV or Varsity?
I’m on the varsity team.
10. Are you going to come out here as a spectator or just volunteer?
Probably just volunteer. I think it’s more fun that way.
11. Why is that?
You are more involved and you get more chance to talk to the players. You are closer to them.
12. Talk about the state of your golf game?
Well. I actually improved a lot on putting. That used to be my worst thing but I’ve gotten a lot better at it. Just changed my grip up a lot. I think the worst is my driver, really. It’s hard to control with that. But I’m improving on that somewhat. I haven’t been playing that long so probably need to work on consistency too.
13. What tips did you learn this week?
Putting is just basically take your time. Because usually our team works on pace on play and keeping it going. But for them when they got to the ball they really took their time and they’d mark it and pick it up, look at their breaks and fix it how they want and really focus on their ball before they putted.
14. Anything else?
I had a blast. I’ll come next year.
